Delaney Parish has been a dispatcher with the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office for over five years. On November 12, her hard work was rewarded with the Dispatcher of the Year Award from the Iowa Emergency Medical Services Association (IEMSA).

“It kind of leaves me speechless.” Parish remarked. “This is a thankless job but that’s okay. What we do is important and to actually be recognized is incredible. I’m very thankful for the Wapello Fire Rescue and Ambulance, without them I wouldn’t be in this situation.”

IEMSA honors the recipients of their annual awards at a lunch ceremony in Des Moines. Parish, along with the other honorees had to be nominated with a letter of recognition. Her letter referenced a call from April of 2021, in which Parish aided a choking patient. Through quick thinking and a professional demeanor, she called for Aeromedical Transport which assisted in the life-saving efforts of the patient.

IEMSA has given out these awards since 1995 to show appreciation for EMS providers, with the belief that they give of themselves everyday.
