Positive trends continue in Nov. for Baxter Co., City of MH sales tax

Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home’s sales tax revenue continues to see positive trends in November.

According to the City of Mountain Home’s Director of Finance and Treasury, Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $566,397 in sales tax revenue in November, which is an increase of 8.4% from this time last year. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $445,618, which is an increase of 8%.

Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion to equal $494,955 which is an increase of 10.54% compared to the November 2021 collection of $465,921.

Clark has reported the city collected $254,032 from its own 2.13% sales tax which is an increase of 9.53% compared to last years total of $231,924.

Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. November’s numbers reflect area spending from September.

Mountain Home also received $267,749 in November revenue from the county’s 1% sales tax. Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:

– Gassville, which received $45,324;

– Cotter, which received $18,497;

– Lakeview, which received $16,179;

– Salesville, which received $9,874;

– Norfork, which received $9,707;

– Briarcliff, which received $4,927 and

– Big Flat, which received $1,837.

Year-to-date, Mountain Home has collected over $6 million from its 2.13% sales tax which is an 8% increase compared to last year.

Baxter County received $217,263 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center. For the year, it has received over $2.3 million from that sales tax.

Mountain Home received $212,399 in October from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments which is an 8.4% increase from last year.

Mountain Home has collected $283,198 from the park improvement sales tax, which is $62,808 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,390.

Park operation sales tax for November collected equals $141,599.
