Dundee music students host princess fundraiser

Dundee music students also dressed as princesses and organized the event.

DUNDEE -- More than 100 area children turned out for the recent Princess Party at Dundee High School.

The fundraising event was sponsored by the Dundee Vocal Music department at Dundee Community Schools.

“(The school musical group) Dundee Descants and many members of Dundee Valkyrie helped create this magical day. Approximately 30 students were involved on the day. Students set up for the entire event, ran all of the activities and were costumed as our princesses,” Megan Sinclair, secondary vocal music theater and theater director for Dundee Community Schools, said.

All proceeds will benefit the music department.

“It will help pay for Solo and Ensemble events, repertoire, uniforms and more,” Sinclair said.

Two parties were offered, and a total of 120 children attended. Activities included photos with princesses, face painting, storytime and food. Attendees also could dress as princesses.

“The first part was at capacity,” Sinclair said. “Kids loved face painting. All of the activities were well-received. I think many of the kids were just so excited to have Elsa (from the movie “Frozen”) reading to them and Tinkberbell coloring with them. We look forward to hosting it again next year.”
