(Greenfield, MA) Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is buying Columbia Care, which owns Patriot Care, a marijuana dispensary in Greenfield. This is Combs’ first investment in the cannabis industry and will create the first minority-owned and operated multistage cannabis operator in the United States.
On November 4th, Cresco & Columbia Care released a statement with Combs Enterprises announcing they would be selling nine dispensaries in three states Massachusetts, New York, and Illinois to Combs.
In the statement Combs said, “My mission has always been to create opportunities for Black entrepreneurs in industries where we’ve traditionally been denied access, and this acquisition provides the immediate scale and impact needed to create a more equitable future in cannabis.”
The deal is set to close in early 2023. Patriot Care does not currently anticipate any changes to service. Patriot Care is one of three Massachusetts businesses part of this deal, including dispensaries in Worcester and Leicester.
