Many El Pasoans were out making a final trip to the grocery store as they prepared for their Thanksgiving dinner.
Inflation has increased the price of staple items.
El Pasoans who were last-minute shopping told CBS4 inside the grocery store was hectic.
"It felt like Black Friday. I went in there and it was packed. It felt like Walmart was getting ready to empty everything out," Irvin Samaniego said.
El Pasoans were getting some much-needed items for their Thanksgiving dinner.
"I gotta get a bottle of wine last minute shopping. I already have an apple pie in the car," Elias Rodriguez said.
Inflation has increased the price of items at the store.
A feast for 10 with 12 menu items including a turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and pumpkin pie will cost on average $64.05, up $10 dollars from last year, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.
El Pasoans said they felt the strain on their pocketbook.
"It’s a bit expensive for example, I normally get this [foil pan] for a dollar, and right now it cost me $7 dollars and change," Ricardo Sol said.
"They’ve [prices] been going up, but I didn’t pay much attention to the prices so I wouldn’t stress it out," Samaniego said.
Even with grocery prices on the rise, El Pasoans hope everyone got to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones.
"I hope y’all have a good Thanksgiving and that y’all stay safe," Fabian Amador said.
"For those who have their family here, I hope you have a good time and for those who don’t have their families keep your head up and move forward. Ask God for wisdom and everything will go well," Sol said.
"Be thankful for everything they have, there’s a lot of people overseas on the border that don’t quite have what we have and hopefully they just enjoy things that are meaningful to them," Rodriguez said.
Economics professor, Tom Fullerton, said this year's Thanksgiving dinner cost 20 percent more this year compared to last year due to inflation.
