The New York Yankees fanbase won’t like this latest update regarding Aaron Judge’s visit with the San Francisco Giants, but it also gives them reason to remain hopeful.

Aaron Judge is the top free agent available this MLB offseason, and understandably so. He did win the AL MVP award after breaking the league’s single-season home run record with the New York Yankees. Now, he is making his rounds as a free agent, and Yankees fans are worried that he might sign elsewhere.

It’s well known that Judge has met with the San Francisco Giants in recent days. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Giants are “elated” following their meeting with the star outfielder.

While that sounds like bad news for Yankees fans, there are reasons to remain hopeful

Aaron Judge rumors: Yankees hold advantage over Giants, Dodgers

While Heyman did note that the Giants were happy following their meeting with Judge, he did bring some bad news to the NL West team and their rivals in the Los Angeles Dodgers. Heyman said that both teams have complications in their chase for Judge against the Yankees, citing they “hold edges for Judge in legacy, ballpark and familiarity.”

In regards to the Giants, Heyman brought up how their home park is in the bottom third of home runs.

Heyman then said that the Dodgers are looking to cut down their $290 million payroll, and brought up how they need a shortstop since Trea Turner is expected to command big money in free agency.

Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner has said that he’s met with Judge after the season, and that he plans to do “everything” he can to make sure that he remains with the team. However, his words could be tested if a team, whether they’re the Giants, Dodgers or someone else, offers him a gigantic contract.

While the meeting with the Giants may scare Yankees fans, they can also remain hopeful in the team’s chances of re-signing Judge.
