UPDATE: Wahpeton man died from severe blood loss after ‘violent domestic incident’

WAHPETON, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The Wahpeton Police Department has released the name of a man who died after an assault on Wednesday, November 23.

Officers responded to a home in the 400 block of 8th Street North where they found a man and woman who both had serious injuries. The Police Department calls it a “violent domestic incident.”

The two were taken separately by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, where Charles Roy Cox, 54, of Wahpeton died from his injuries.

The woman was air-lifted to a Fargo hospital with serious injuries, but no additional information about her condition will be provided as she has requested privacy.

A preliminary autopsy report by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office indicates the cause of Cox’s death to be severe blood loss due to multiple sharp force injuries. the manner of death is still pending and the incident remains under investigation.

Police say this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
