Middletown South shook off a minor deficit early to take down crosstown rival Middletown North, 27-10, on Thursday at home in Middletown.
Middletown South ups its win total to 35-12-1 all-time against the Lions. The Eagles have taken 22 of the last 23 meetings between the two schools separated by five miles across town.
Colin Gallagher scored three rushing touchdowns in the contest including one in the second quarter which gave the 9-2 Eagles the lead for good at 13-7. That one was from four yards out.
Gallagher also ran for a 2-yard touchdown in the third quarter and a 1-yarder in the fourth.
Middletown North (3-6) got on the scoreboard first as Neno Morgan-Acker sprinted for a 58-yard touchdown on the ground. Ian Poole-Morgan added the extra point while also drilling a 32-yard field goal in the second to make it 13-10.
Gallagher finished the season with nine rushing scores while the touchdown was Silva’s first of the year.
Morgan-Acker ended his season with rushing touchdowns in each of the last five games.
