GREEN BAY, Wis–The Green Bay Fire Department puts out its annual holiday wreaths. The wreaths are lit with green lights–which are replaced by red ones every time the department responds to a house fire through New Year’s Day.
The department recommends that you never leave food on the stove unattended, that all holiday decorations be kept at least three feet away from any open flames, that you not overload extension cords or power strips, and to make sure that all of your smoke detectors work.
Green Bay averages 15 residential fires a year during the holidays.
