Fire crews with Jackson County Fire District 3 and Medford Fire Department responded to a two-story house fire in White City Wednesday.
Officials say they received reports of one person on the roof and firefighters were able to safely remove the victim from the home.
The victim declined medical transport.
Investigators say the fire likely started on the back porch outside the home.
The fire was mostly contained to the backside of the home, though flames did spread into the attic. The five crews were able to contain the fire within minutes of arriving on scene.
According to officials, a dog was reported missing when crews first arrived. They later found the dog deceased in the home and notified the family. No other injuries were reported.
The official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
