Spencer, IA (KICD)– The latest regular Spencer City Council meeting was a bit heavy on public works measures that are essentially needed either for day-to-day operations or by requirements for special funding.
The first item involves software at the Central Garage with determines how much various entities chip in for fuel.
Public Works Director Mark White told the council this software upgrade will cost the city three thousand dollars initially with additional annual and monthly fees not included but is currently needed to keep the current system operational.
In other business, the city’s elected officials were tasked with passing a resolution adopting a series of policies involving anti-displacement and relocation assistance, a code of conduct and fair housing as required by terms to receive a Community Development Block Grant.
Darren Bumgarner from Northwest Iowa Planning and Development noted these policies are really nothing out of the ordinary.
These policies were required to be formally in place after the City of Spencer was awarded 600 thousand dollars in CDBG funding for the 2023 Eastside Separation Project.
