A jury in Marion County has found a man accused in the death of a Jasper man not guilty on all charges.
Marion County Criminal Court confirmed the jury acquitted 29-year-old James Hunter Scott last week at the end of his trial.
Back in March of 2020, Scott was charged with the shooting death of 24-year-old Corbin Kain Hale at a home on Elm Street in Jasper.
Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation later learned Hale and Scott, who was an acquaintance from Alabama, had been involved in a confrontation.
At some point, investigators say Scott fired several times at Hale, who later died at a nearby hospital.
The jury found Scott not guilty of all charges, which included first degree murder, second degree murder, reckless homicide and criminally negligent homicide.
Hale's family told us they were disappointed with the verdict.
We're working to learn more details, and we'll update this story when we do.
