Federal officials are investigating an incident that saw a door fall off a plane midflight and land in a Nevada shopping center.

“We were driving in the parking lot of the St. Rose shopping center after picking up our daughter’s glasses when I saw the door fall from the sky,” Christopher Wolverton said.

He added that he heard the plane fly by but was unable to see it.

“I stopped the car and exclaimed, ‘Oh my God! I think a door just fell from that plane!’ My family thought I was seeing things,” Wolverton said.

No one was injured by the accident, according to the report, and the door landed near a Hobby Lobby and a Costco.

The only person on the plane was the pilot, who was able to return the plane to the airport following the door’s premature departure, the FAA said.
