A morning blaze in Moneta has left one person homeless just a day before the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Moneta Volunteer Fire Department said they responded to Bold Branch Road for a report of a structure fire.

When they got on scene, they found the home with flames showing from the outside.

Multiple units were called out to fight the fire, including companies from Bedford County.

Fire Marshal Leo George gave ABC13 more information about the blaze.

George said the fire was at a single-story home.

He said the owner was not there at the time and had already left for work and that the fire was called in by someone driving by.

George said the Red Cross is helping the owner and that crews have fully extinguished the flames and left the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Bedford County Fire Marshal's Office.
