Recap –

We were scoreless in the first two minutes of the game before Jada Campbell got a lay-in to go from Matti Reiner. Campbell added two free throws a minute later in the contest. The suffocating Tiger defense was on full display early in the contest not allowing a Lancer point tell 5:46 for a 6-2 DWU lead. Lancers would score another bucket narrowing the Tiger lead to two with 5:21 left in the first. No shot would find the bottom of the net for the next three minutes keeping it 6-4. Dakota Wesleyan closed out the quarter on a 6-2 run giving them a 12-6 advantage. Jada Campbell led in the quarter with her eight points.

Morgan Edelman opened the second quarter getting a bucket to go followed by another Campbell basket for her 10th point of the contest. Lancers added a converted free throw in between the DWU baskets for a 16-7 score early in the second.  Mount Marty went on a mini 5-0 run, but it was abruptly ended with a Aspen Hansen three-pointer (Tigers first of the game). DWU held a 19-12 lead halfway through the quarter outscoring the Lancers 7-6 up to that point. Campbell would tack on two more baskets for her 14th point of the contest extending the Tigers to their biggest lead (11) for a 23-12 score with 2:00 left. Lancers added two free throws to the Tigers one to close out the half for a 24-14 DWU advantage. Campbell paced all scorers in the half with 14.

Campbell got to work right away in third with another post move score pushing her total to 16 and their lead to 12. Tigers again would go on scoring drought before who else but Campbell got them back in the scoring column. Both defenses up to this point had made it extremely difficult for each offense for a very low score of 28-17 with 7:00 left in the third. You knew the high-powered Tiger offense would find their rhythm and they did just that at that 7:00 mark going on a 10-2 run in a span of 2:30 before a Mount Marty timeout. The run was fueled thanks to deep shots from Ihnen and Rynn Osthus giving DWU a 19-point lead with 4:00 left in the quarter. A pair of Reiner free throws pushed that run to 12-2 and lead to 21. Campbell closed out the quarter scoring eight straight points for a 48-23 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

Lancers opened the fourth quarter with some fight going on a 5-1 run in the first 4:00 minutes to chip away at the Tigers lead. DWU defense held strong only allowing the five points halfway through the final quarter but struggle offensively not recording a field goal during that span. Hansen would record the first field goal of the quarter at the 4:10 mark with drilling a shot from deep. Campbell got a jump shot to fall for her season-high 30th point of the game with 3:30 left and the score at 54-31. Lancers would win the quarter (16-11) but wouldn’t be enough as the Tigers grab the 59-39 win. The 39 points allowed is the second lowest mark by the Tiger defense this season (first against GPAC opponent).
