NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Armed carjackers stole a BMW and then crashed into a Mercedes with their accomplices inside while attempting to flee police overnight Tuesday in Jamaica Hills.

According to police, the 39-year-old driver was held up by five men who stole his BMW X5 and cell phone around 1:30 a.m. at 164th Street and Chapin Parkway.

Some of the thieves jumped into the BMW, while others fled in a Mercedes-Benz.

As police tried to stop the group, the drivers of each car tried to make a getaway, but collided.

According to police, three were arrested with charges pending, while two fled on foot and are still at large.

Police said two of them were brought to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and the other to New York-Presbyterian-Queens with minor injuries.
