UConn’s Chris Dailey released from hospital after collapsing before NC State game

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Chris Dailey, the associate head coach of the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team, had a “pregame episode” Sunday, according to a university spokesperson.

She was taken to UConn Health after collapsing, according to the university. She was released Sunday afternoon.

Several fans took to social media to say that Dailey appeared to faint before the game, had talked to paramedics, and was taken out on a stretcher.

According to ESPN, Dailey collapsed during the national anthem before the Huskies took on North Carolina State University. An extra 10 minutes were then added to warm-ups.

Players were left shaken up by the incident.

“Under other circumstances, it might have been even more difficult to go out there,” Head Coach Geno Auriemma said, adding that because Dailey left awake and alert, it was easier to take to the court.
