Heavy lake-effect snow ending on Sunday

A lake effect snow warning remains in effect for the snowbelt and metro Cleveland this Sunday. We will likely see this warning get a trim throughout Sunday afternoon. It is set to expire at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Snow is gradually coming to an end and will continue to slide to the north as winds become westerly and eventually southwesterly. This will force this band of lake effect back north and eventually over Lake Erie. Snow will linger the longest in northern Ashtabula county and NW Pennsylvania. Overnight, everyone will be dry with clearing clouds.

Travel could remain difficult for some through the day with blowing snow and periods of time with limited visibility. It will also be FRIGID all day with temperatures in the 20s and wind chills in the teens due to gusty winds! It will be clear and cold again tonight. Tomorrow will be much drier across the area and also milder! Highs will be in the 40s - but it remains breezy. So it will still feel colder.

The Power of 5 weather team has been forecasting a lake-effect snow event since early this week. Overnight, a singular band of lake effect dropped several inches of snow across Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties. Most totals will end up around 4-8 inches with locally higher amounts. Lake effect is such a wild beast! Parts of the area woke up to whiteout conditions and others woke up to blue skies and sun!
