KiLynn King is listening to some solid advice.

During a recent interview with WrestleZone, KiLynn King was asked if there’s a way she tries to emulate her former trainer Billy Gunn in the ring, or anything she wants to work on that she’s learned from him. King said Gunn always pushed her to be more intense in the ring instead of relying on finesse, and it’s starting to pay off.

“One of the things that Billy always pushed for me was just to work my strength more, to be more aggressive, to be more — I’m trying to think of how to say it for myself — just to be more intense,” she noted. “I think sometimes I rely too much on other things because I enjoy all aspects of wrestling.

“Then these past couple of months, if you followed any of my matches, especially some of my bigger matches,” King explained, “I’ve been tapping into that side of myself at becoming much more innovative. I’ve been tapping into my strength a lot more, in my aggression a lot more, as opposed to just relying on the fancy part of wrestling, and it’s showing. Whether I win or not, I leave an impression everywhere I go and people are starting to realize that. So I definitely think Billy’s passion to bring that out in me is finally coming to fruition.”
