Wild Life Officials asking for help in shooting

WHITEWATER, Colo. (KREX) — Wildlife officials in the Whitewater area are seeking the public’s help in a shoot-and-abandon case.

On Halloween, hikers outside of Whitewater near Highway 141 found a big horn sheep shot and left dead to rot.

Gateway’s District Wildlife Manager, Kevin Duckett tells us it’s a felony to shoot and leave wildlife.

The carcass was found between mile markers 147 and 148, best estimations have the animal downed on Oct. 29th or 30th. If you have any information, call Operation Game Thief at 1-877-COLO-OGT, or any of the local Parks and Wildlife Offices.
