Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz lands next lead movie role

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz has landed the leading role in David Duchovny's upcoming film Bucky F***ing Dent.

According to Collider, Beatriz will be joining Duchovny and Logan Marshall-Green (The O.C, Spiderman: Homecoming) in a leading role. The film is an adaption of Duchovny's 2016 novel of the same name. He will also be directing the film.

Set in 1978, Bucky F***ing Dent follows the story of Ted (played by Marshall-Green) who moves back in with his father (Duchovny) after realising he has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Ted soon notices that his father's health hinges on the success of his baseball team, the Red Sox. Each time the Red Sox lose a game his father's health deteriorates, so Ted comes up with a plan to give the illusion of the team winning in order to keep up his father's spirits. Beatriz will star as one of Ted's friends who assist him in pulling off the daring task.

The movie is yet to have an official release date, however filming is believed to have been completed.

Beatriz is best known for her role as Detective Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She also starred in Encanto, Bob’s Burgers and In the Heights. The actress was also set to feature in horror film History Of Evil but later dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, being replaced by Orange Is The New Black star Jackie Cruz.

Duchovny is well known for his role in The X-Files as Agent Fox Mulder alongside Gillian Anderson. He has also appeared in Californication, Zoolander and Twin Peaks: The Return. Outside of acting, he has also published five books, including Bucky F***ing Dent and Holy Cow.
