Waterbury police ID homicide suspect as convicted felon out on bond

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find a person they said shot and killed a 23-year-old last week in Waterbury.

Xavier Pellot, of Waterbury, was shot at about 4 p.m. Oct. 31 in the area of 170 Willow St., according to police. Officers initially responded to the area for a shots-fired call and learned that Pellot had been dropped off at a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Clarence Rhodes, 43, of Waterbury, is wanted for murder, police announced Wednesday. Authorities said that at the time of Pellot’s death, Rhodes was out on a $125,000 bond for three prior charges.

He has been arrested 20 times on 47 charges, and has been previously convicted of felonies, according to police. His previous arrests include for gun charges, narcotics and violent offenses.

He was last arrested in April.
