6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Pacific Ocean West Of San Diego

A large earthquake struck off the coast of southern California Tuesday night.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the magnitude 6.0 quake was centered deep in the ocean roughly between San Diego and Hawaii.

It was reported around 10:00pm Pacific time.

The National Weather Service's Bay Area office took to Twitter to reassure that the quake was "considered too small and too far away from the coast" to issue any type of tsunami warning.
