A popular Abilene restaurant known as 'The Local' has closed its doors indefinitely after three years of service.
Announced in a Facebook post this morning, the restaurant announced that it will remain closed until "we are certain we can reopen with the exceptional level of service we strive for."
The restaurant released a statement online, saying "Downtown Abilene is a dynamic place, and over the last three years it has been a privilege to serve the Abilene community in The Local. We opened with a warm reception from our community and for that we are truly grateful. However, the impacts of COVID on the service industry has left us with the tough decision about what to do next. Every industry is in a staffing deficit and The Local is not immune to these staffing challenges."
