(KRON) — Trains are once again stopping at Walnut Creek BART station which was closed earlier due to police activity, according to a tweet from BART. Trains are making normal stops at the station after bypassing it for several hours.
“Police have closed the station out of an abundance of caution as they investigate a suspicious package,” stated a subsequent tweet from the transit agency. The station was closed at 8:10 a.m., according to a BART representative.
A suspicious device was removed by the Walnut Creek PD Bomb Squad with assistance from Walnut Creek BART police.
During the closure, trains were still running through Walnut Creek but not stopping at the station. County Connection provided temporary bus service between Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek stations on buses #9 and #14, according to a service alert on the BART website. Pleasant Hill and Lafayette were recommended as alternative stations.

The station and the parking garage were both closed earlier. Both are now accessible again, according to a tweet from BART. However, the Pringle Street entrance remains closed.
Earlier on Monday, travelers were advised to expect a 20-minute delay on some trans bay trips, according to a previous tweet from the transit agency. The delays were due to ongoing earthquake retrofit work in the Transbay Tube.
Delays potentially impacted travelers headed in both directions, but were only expected to last through 6:15 a.m., according to BART.
