Pella Regional Health Center announced that Tammy Humes in the Call Center, is the recipient of the Quarterly DAISY Awards. The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration that these nurses give to their patients.

Excerpt from Tammy’s nomination:

“Tammy is a nurse with immense knowledge and has a variety of experiences in different settings. She brings all of this knowledge to our triage team. She calmly and efficiently talks through each call with care and compassion. She has been known to take a call, send it on to a provider, and then watch it to make sure it is processed timely. She then calls the patient back with the information. Thorough is a definition of Tammy. Whenever I have a question as another triage nurse, she gladly takes my call and walks me through different scenarios to help me triage my patient well. Tammy has been behind the scenes at Pella Regional for many years and deserves this recognition!”

Humes received a certificate that reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
