DENVER — Colts defensive end Kwity Paye was carted off with an injury to his lower right leg in the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game against the Denver Broncos. He was later ruled out.

Paye, the 2021 first-round pick, had been one of the most consistent Indianapolis defenders to start the season, recording three sacks and five tackles-for-loss in the first four games of the season.

But he was injured on the play that led to Rodney Thomas II interception, appearing to have someone step on his lower leg and going down immediately. Indianapolis coach Frank Reich came out onto the field, and then most of the Colts team gathered around Paye as trainers looked at him and put him on the cart.

Paye’s injury was initially announced in the press box as a leg injury.
