The Cleveland Cavaliers now have a reason to see the Philadelphia 76ers more often thanks to Montrezl Harrell.

The Cleveland Cavaliers had a great outing against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night in their first preseason game. The Cavs best players teed off and most of them sat down to start the second half. Donovan Mitchell shot wonderfully, going 6-9 from the floor and 3-4 from three to finish with 18 points.

Dean Wade looked amazing, showing some improved lateral movement and some incredible court vision. It was largely a nice, simple, preseason game. Due to it being such a “whatever” game, we weren’t going to do much outside of simple coverage. But Montrezl Harrell just had to make it personal.

A preseason game. Made personal. Great.

Harrell decided to go off on Instagram, slamming the Cavs, calling them “sorry” and then talking fans should watch the game footage of his play against the Cavaliers. Harrell, according to the box score, did have a good game. He went 5-7 and scored 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

What Harrell ignored completely is that the Cavs were only playing the deep reserved when Harrell was on the court. Harrell played largely against Mamadi Diakite, Lamar Stevens, and Robin Lopez. He scored all five of his field goals against the deepest of reserves, and Harrell is going off on social media telling fans to look at the tape.

So we did. Boy, Harrell really should be embarrassed because he barely beat players who will likely be on the Cavs G-League squad as the Twitter user rightfully pointed out below.

Montrezl Harrell is going to give the Cleveland Cavaliers all the ammunition they need.

The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t need much motivation this year. With Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland all likely to earn All-Star bids this year, the team looking at a potential 60-plus win season while looking ahead to the Eastern Conference Finals, the motivation is already there.

This is a championship contender. A young, championship contender and the Cavs don’t really need much motivation.

Yet, to see Harrell, a 6th Man of the Year candidate, talking junk after beating up on G-Teamers is going to give the Cavs plenty of motivation each time they face off with the 76ers. The Cavs had 7 blocks last night and most of them belonged to the deep reserves.

Imagine what’s going to happen to the 76ers and Harrell when Allen and Mobley get a shot at Philly. Harrell may have made a mistake trying to dunk on the G-Leaguers but only time will tell.
