Body cam shows dramatic scene after Lebanon woman allegedly caused dogs to attack child
A 6-year-old had two emergency surgeries after two large dogs mauled her after the owner allegedly ordered them to attack.
According to court documents, on Aug. 25, Cassie Thierauf used her dogs as weapons against the child.
The Lebanon Police Department released body camera footage Thursday showing the chaotic scene when officers arrived at Rosemarie Drive. The video is hard to understand, but you can hear a child screaming about a dog and her lip. A woman is also shown explaining to the police that her neighbor let the dogs loose on her child.
According to police records, Alecia Payne alleges that her kids were playing outside and saw their neighbor, Thierauf, doing drugs with another person. Payne took a video of Thierauf, and then Payne went inside her home to call 911. While on the phone with dispatchers, Payne's kids were in the front yard playing, and the call was interrupted by screaming. One of her kids ran in, shouting that the other child was getting attacked by a dog.
Payne told police that when she ran outside, she found her 6-year-old getting attacked by two pit-bull mixes that belonged to Thierauf.
The victim later told police that Thierauf let the dogs out of her front door and ordered, "Go get them." She recalls there being a lot of blood and reporting that dogs bit her face.
On Wednesday, Cassie Thierauf was arraigned on one count of felonious assault and one count of endangering children.
Warren County Prosecutors asked for the bond to be raised to $50,000, pointing to the seriousness of the case and Thierauf's history of probation violations.
The judge set the bond at $50,000 cash or charity. If Thierauf makes bail, she will be under house arrest and given a no-contact order with the 6-year-old.
Theirauf denied letting the dogs outside. Instead, she told people that they had nosed their way out.
Records reveal that she did not have a license for the dogs, and they were both seized by the Warren County dog warden.
According to court documents, the victim's mother captured a video of Thierauf saying, "Your kids shouldn't have messed with me and my dogs."
