Social media tips led to the arrest of a 19-year-old who drove by an unoccupied residence and fired approximately seven rounds into the home.
Choctaw police responded to an address on Sept. 29 in the Choctaw Trails Addition on complaint of a drive-by shooting. Home surveillance footage provided to officers revealed that a white Chevrolet Impala had driven by the home and fired seven rounds into it.
The Choctaw Police Department took to their Facebook on Sept. 30, posting the photo of the vehicle in question.
On Oct. 1, the department received a tip on Facebook messenger advising officers that the vehicle was located in Midwest City. Later that same evening, officers located and identified the vehicle as the vehicle that had been captured in surveillance footage.
The vehicle was impounded and a search warrant was served on Oct. 3 to process the car. While the vehicle was being processed, a 9mm Glock magazine was found, along with numerous other ammunition, ear plugs, eye protection, and a blue water jug with the name "Castle" written on the side.
Probably cause obtained from searching the vehicle led to the execution of a search warrant at the suspect, Callen Castle's home located in Midwest City.
On Oct. 4, police executed the search warrant and discovered a black backpack hidden in a small crawl space underneath the residence. The backpack contained the same type of earplugs found in the car, as well as the same type of eye protection. A Norinco 9mm handgun was also recovered, S&B 21/9x19 ammunition, which was the same ammunition that had been recovered from the home in the Choctaw Trails Addition. A temporary paper tag that was on the vehicle at the time of the shooting was also found at Castle's home.
Castle was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on the felony charge of Use of a Vehicle to Facilitate the Intentional Discharge of a Firearm.
