CAMDEN, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A 36-year-old man has been charged in the beating death of his mother while inside a car earlier this year in New Jersey, authorities announced Wednesday.

Gary Richman was charged with manslaughter and endangering an injured victim last week, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

On May 23, Richman and his mother, 65-year-old Sandra Richman drove from their home in Salem County home to Cramer Hill in Camden where at some point she suffered “a blunt force head injury” in the vehicle.

Officials didn’t say where the attack occurred, but court records note the incident happened at approximately 11:30 a.m.

She was brought to an area hospital by her son and died at a hospice care facility June 12.

An autopsy performed by the Office of Gloucester-Camden-Salem Counter Medical Examiner ruled the death to be homicide and the cause of her death to be complications of blunt force head injury.

Authorities arrested Richman two days after the attack on an unrelated charge and has been since held at the Salem County jail.
