Voting registration 2022: Midterm election deadlines for online, mail or in-person ballots

A voter fills out their ballot at Bedford High School during the New Hampshire Primary on September 13, 2022 in Bedford, New Hampshire. In one race, voters will decide which Republican candidate will face Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan in the general election.

The deadline to register to vote in this year's general election is right around the corner for some states. In others, like Colorado and New Hampshire, voters may register on the day of voting, Nov. 8.

Eligible voters can fill out and submit applications either in person, online or by mail, depending on their state. Several states have different cut-off dates for each method of registration. Deadlines listed below note which option they apply to.

Check your state and local election office's websites for more information on what time they are open and what you need in order to register.
