A wine store and beverage outlet proposed for the heavily traveled Blakeslee Boulevard in Lehighton has received the stamp of approval.

Borough council on a 4-0 vote on Monday granted a request from Mitch 328 LLC for a waiver pertaining to sidewalks, and granted conditional approval for the land development plan.

In June, the Lehighton Planning Commission unanimously accepted plans for review brought forth by Mitch 328 LLC.

Darrin Heckman, senior project manager for Keystone Engineering, said the plan calls for a new two-unit building at 101 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive E.

The business would be built on roughly 1 acre west of Advance Auto. The location is now used by a farm stand.

He said it would be a 52-by-152-foot building, half of which would be a beverage center (beer store), and the other half wine and spirits.

Heckman represented Jane Mason, managing partner, Mitch 328 LLC. Jane, along with her husband, Todd Mason, own Mason’s Cold Beer in Jim Thorpe.
