A Darlington organization that helps battered women now has a safe place for them to go.
The house of refuge announced today that they have a safe house for abused women and their children. They can't release the location for safety reasons.
The organization's founder, Tonya Flowers, thanked all of the churches and donors today who made it possible for them to be able to buy a safe house.
She says it's a great blessing because at one point she didn't know if they could continue on by just going from place to place.
"No more rent. No more leasing. Glory. Oh my God it took me 10 years to do this. I wanted to give up. Because it got hard some times. I couldn't see the money. I couldn't see the needs are being met," said Flowers.
The organization has provided transitional housing for battered women for the past 10 years.
They're able to start their 10th year with a safe home for those who need it.
