Council Awards Water Tower & Pipeline Contracts For Eastern Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council met in regular session Wednesday, they held a pair of public hearings concerning the new water tower and associated pipeline that is planned to better serve the eastern part of the City.

Following the public hearings, Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker says the Council awarded the contracts for both projects.

The Council also held the second reading of an amendment to the City’s fireworks ordinance. Kooiker says that rather than moving the amendment along to a third reading, the Council opted to vote it into law after the second reading.

The agenda for Wednesday’s meeting also included the consideration of a TIF application from Family Dollar Stores for their newly-acquired property at 909 Park Street, the former home of Digital Plus, however Kooiker says that discussion did not take place.

Kooiker says the Council was also advised that the Fire Department’s new aerial ladder truck had been delivered earlier this week, and will be put into service, and the rental ladder truck returned, within the next couple of weeks.
