T’era Hopkins’ commitment to caring for people has inspired her to launch a home healthcare business called Home Care Loyalty.

Home Care Loyalty, which was launched on Aug. 10, is a homemaking assistance business that provides care to seniors, women going through pregnancies and their postpartum period and those who need help around the home.

The services she provides include meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, laundry, transportation, running errands and providing companionship.

“I have a heart for helping people,” Hopkins said. “Helping others is what I enjoy the most.”

T'era Hopkins launched Home Care Loyalty on Aug. 10. The business provides home care to seniors, women going through pregnancies and their postpartum period and those who need help around the home.

Hopkins said the prices vary per client, however, the standard price for services is $15 to $20 an hour.

For the past seven years, Hopkins worked as a caregiver in Gainesville at nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers and psychiatric hospitals.

“I wanted to create something that will provide reassurance, dependability, trust and reliability to clients,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins was born in Gainesville and lived here until moving to Tampa with her family when she was in the 10th grade. She graduated from Freedom High School, and then enrolled at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee and graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in social work.

The mother of six said she is looking forward to help those who need help around the home.

Hopkins said her services for soon-to-be-mothers and new mothers would have been something she would have loved to use during and after her pregnancies, and hopes women will find a peace of mind with the services she offers.

“This service would be something I could have benefited from when I had my newborns,” Hopkins said. “Having a caregiver to run errands and tidy up the home is helpful.”

Pamela “Pam” Bowers is a senior who was cared for by Hopkins in a group home called Covered with Care.

A group home is a residence that provides medical care for those with complex health needs.

“Her care was great,” Bowers said. “Anything she could do, she did it. When I was sick, she nursed me back to health. She was very helpful. She is a good person.”

Hopkins said providing care for seniors is important because their age and health requires them to get special attention.

“I like to provide the special care they need,” Hopkins said. “I like to give them their flowers. They've worked hard enough.”

Erica Thomas, a behavioral analyst for a group home called Hearts That Cares, worked alongside Hopkins and noticed her care-giving abilities first-hand.

“She [Hopkins] is very patient when it comes to caring for others,” Thomas said. “She tries to know her clients and find ways to best support them and provide feedback. She teaches them skills and creative ways to be independent, versatile and help them expand their interests.”

Thomas said that she is proud of Hopkins for launching her homemaking business.

“It’s amazing to see her carry out what she learned in her previous setting to fulfill her mission and values in her own company,” Thomas said.

Hopkins said she is excited to cater to Gainesville and North Central Florida with her services.

“My future plan is to expand this business into a group home where services will be provided there,” Hopkins said. “My goal as a caregiver is to provide a quality of work that is satisfaction guaranteed.”
