The New Jersey State Police are looking for a driver in a hit-and-run crash last month on the Garden State Parkway in Old Bridge in which a Bergen County man was killed.

But a description of the vehicle which fled the scene has not been released. Gabriel Farias, 39, of Teaneck, died in the September crash.

A preliminary investigation indicates around 12:27 a.m. Sept. 19, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Mini Cooper were traveling north in the express lanes of the Garden State Parkway near milepost 121.6 in Old Bridge, according to State Police.

After a collision between those two vehicles and a third unknown vehicle which fled the scene, the Mini Cooper, driven by Farias, struck a concrete barrier, a guardrail and overturned, State Police said. The driver of the Jeep was not injured, according to State Police.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Troop “D” Criminal Investigations Office at 732-441-4500 ext. 7426. Tips can be anonymous.
