Man, 69, killed in early morning car collision on Richmond Road

A James City County man is dead after being involved in a traffic crash early Thursday morning.

Gerry Lewis, 69, was turning onto Richmond Road from Bush Springs Road when his 1998 Buick collided with a 2015 Toyota traveling east on Richmond Road, said James City County Assistant Police Chief Tony Dallman.

James City County police and fire departments responded to the crash at approximately 6:48 a.m. Lewis was transported to a local hospital, where he died. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured.

During the investigation, the eastbound lanes of Richmond Road were closed for about two hours. The crash is still under investigation.
