The second weekend of October is prime time to head into the mountains to enjoy the colors every year.
This year, it is no different, with northern New England escaping most of the drought-induced limitations when it comes to vibrant colors.
People from all over the Northeast pick this holiday weekend to get outside and enjoy our state, and with the weather shaping up to be quite fitting for a leaf-peeping adventure, we should expect some extra traffic on the roads without a doubt.
Most of the peak color is along and north of Route 2, but as the middle part of October approaches, past peak conditions will settle in relativity quickly after that.
Colors along the coastline may be somewhat muted this year due to the stress taken on by the trees resulting from more severe drought conditions.
Nonetheless, the season is shaping up to be right around average for peak color and weather-wise, Mother Nature is providing cooler and blustery conditions to add that correct flavor to the time of year.
As windier days approach, this may start the process of leaves drop across the foothills and mountains, so definitely take advantage of this holiday weekend to explore.
