MnDOT says paving to begin on 6 mile stretch of Hwy 52 from Cannon Falls to Zumbrota

(ABC 6 News) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) on Wednesday provided an update on the Hwy 52 southbound project between Cannon Falls and Zumbrota.

MnDOT says paving will begin this week on a 6.15 mile stretch of southbound Hwy 52 from Goodhue Co. Rd. 1 to Goodhue Co. Rd. 50. MnDOT warns motorists there will be a steady traffic of dump trucks moving through the area, but to continue to follow the marked detour.

Meanwhile, MnDOT says the Hwy 52 interchange at Hwy 57 and Goodhue Co. Rd. 8 near Hader will open to traffic in November.

This is the second year of a three year project that started in 2021.

Since April 2022, crews have been rebuilding the southbound lanes of Hwy 52, constructing the interchange at Hwy 57, replacing the Hwy 52 bridge at Hwy 60 east, and connecting Goodhue Co. Rd. 14 with cul de sacs and frontage roads.

In 2023, crews will replace and repair bridges for both directions of Hwy 52, construct a noise wall along northbound Hwy 52 south of Hwy 58 interchange at Zumbrota, reconstruct more of southbound Hwy 52, and construct more frontage roads and cul de sacs.
