Man jailed after chase from Nash County into Wake County

A local man is behind bars after having led law enforcement on a high-speed chase on U.S. 64 from Nash County into Wake County in the early morning hours of Thursday after speeding away from a traffic stop and striking a vehicle being driven by a state trooper who had joined the pursuit.

The man, Joe Ashley Jr., 30, is being held without bond because there are fugitive warrants against him from Virginia and Maryland, Maj. Eddie Moore of the Nash County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
