72 years, 8 brides, one family, and one lucky dress.
The most recent bride to wear the dress is the daughter of one of our own here at WACH FOX 57 News.
Over the summer, Serena Stoneberg-Lipari walked down the aisle in the same gown as her grandmother, Adele Larson Stoneberg.
Flashback to 1950, Adele purchased the wedding gown from a department store in Chicago.
"Her sister two years later decided to wear it, " Stoneberg-Lipari said.
"She claims she didn't want to go shopping and that's why she decide to wear it. their sister years later decided to wear it as well.
No one could have predicted what was to come.
The timeless satin wedding gown is described as something a royal would wear by the 8th bride that wore it.
"I always knew I was definitely going to get married in that dress," Stoneberg-Lipari said.
"It started a chain reaction of all the brides in the family wanting to wear it."
Four other brides not including Serena decided to wear the tradition.
Which brings us to now.
All living brides watching Serena say her vows.
The oldest living bride her great Aunt Elly at 91 years old.
"It was special for everyone," said Stoneberg-Lipari.
"I was a bit emotional and there there were a lot of special feelings and emotions that day."
To this family -- it's a lucky gown.
We think there is something to it all 8 brides have had long happy marriages.
Serena says, "I do" to a life of happiness and always keeping family first.
The reason she believes the tradition of the dress lives on.
"The big thing for all of us is keep the importance of family alive throughout your life," said Stoneberg-Lipari.
The dress is safekeeping until the next bride is ready to wed.
Serena told WACH FOX News if she does have a daughter there is no pressure to wear the dress!
