Giants' Jon Feliciano on Cole Beasley retirement: 'If the right situation comes, I think he comes back'

It was reported Wednesday that veteran slot receiver Cole Beasley was retiring after 11-plus seasons in the NFL just two weeks after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. New York Giants center Jon Feliciano is one person who may not be convinced that Beasley is done playing for good.

"I’ve talked to him since he retired," Feliciano said, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. "I talk to him all the time. I don’t know. I’m holding out hope. I think if the right situation comes, I think he comes back. But from what he says, he’s retiring. So I don’t know. It might be just me holding out a little hope."

Beasley and Feliciano were teammates with the Buffalo Bills for the last three seasons from 2019 to 2021. Giants head coach Brian Daboll served as the Bills' offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021.

"Great guy," Giants head coach Brian Daboll said of Beasley. "Very productive in our system. Wish him the best of luck. Him and his family, children, great person."

According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Giants had previously tried to sign Beasley after he took part in a "recruitment dinner" in September.

Feliciano thinks the former Dallas Cowboys and Bills receiver could still bring a lot to the table if he were to join forces with the Giants.

"(Beasley) has a lot of juice left in him and I know he has some marks that he’s trying to hit … I think it was 6,000 yards and 40 touchdowns or something like that," the center said.

At the time of the 33-year-old SMU product's retirement on Wednesday, he had racked up 5,726 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns over his career.
