Dover, Tenn.–A Paris man was arrested after he was allegedly found sleeping on someone’s couch after leaving the scene of an accident earlier.

Ryan Hargrove, age 26, was arrested by the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated burglary and vandalism. Bond of $7,500 was set.

The accident occured around 2:30 a.m. Monday, October 3 near the Ned McWherter Bridge at Paris Landing. When the THP and deputies arrived, the driver had left the scene. The driver was not found after a brief search of the area.

According to the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, around 2:30 pm, deputies responded to a burglary of a home on Hwy. 79.

Upon arrival, Deputy Allison House, Deputy Josh Miller and Chief Deputy Dale Ward located a male subject outside the home and took him into custody.

The man taken into custody was found to be the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash earlier that morning. Sheriff Frankie Gray said the man evidently made entry through a wood fence at the home and used a piece of wood to force open the door of the sunroom where he took a nap on the couch.

When the homeowner(s) arrived home they heard someone knocking on the door leading to the kitchen. Homeowners called the Sheriff’s Office when they made contact with the intruder. Damage to the home fence was estimated at approximately $2500.00.
