Robin Thicke sweetly remembered his late father, Alan Thicke, during Wednesday night’s (Oct. 5) episode of The Masked SingerDuring the TV theme night, the “Blurred Lines” singer performed the theme song from Growing Painswhich his father famously starred on for seven seasons.

The performance of “As Long as We Got Each Other,” which triggered all the feels, kicked off the show as Robin sang his way to the stage with old photos of him and his fellow judges — Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, and host Nick Cannon — appearing on the screen. On the stage behind them, a photo of a young Robin and his father on the set of the hit sitcom was displayed.

At the end of the song, McCarthy embraced Robin, telling him, “That was so good,” while Cannon said, “Give it up for my man, Robin Thicke, one more time. With an amazing tribute to America’s dad, and Robin’s dad, the unforgettable, Alan Thicke.”

Alan starred on Growing Pains from 1985 to 1992 as Dr. Jason Seaver, a psychiatrist father who begins working from home long before working from home was normal so his wife can go back to her career as a reporter. As a result, he grapples with the challenges of taking care of his children.

The beloved actor passed away in late 2016 from a heart attack at only 69 years old. Since then, Robin has continued to pay tribute to his father, whom he remembers being extremely close with, through social media.

In an interview with Access, Robin said, “You never get over something like that. Especially when he’s your hero, your best friend, and your first phone call,” but noted that his father loved primetime television and hopes he’s “smiling on us” as he works on the singing competition show.

The Masked Singer airs on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on Fox.
