Tricks and treats and pumpkins and deep fried Oreos and kites and so much more – October brings fall fun of every sort for all ages. Whether you stick to a hometown festival or plan a road trip for seasonal fun, there is something happening for almost every interest, age and budget. The Aunt Het Fall Festival is 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Oct. 8 in downtown Fountain Inn. For details, visit facebook.com/AuntHetFestival.

The 2022 Spartanburg Soaring! International Kite Festival is 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Oct. 8 at Chapman Cultural Center. The event includes children’s activities, field day games and more. For details, visit chapmanculturalcenter.org/spartanburg-soaring.

The South Carolina State Fair is Oct. 12 – 23 at the State Fairgrounds in Columbia. See the online schedule for promotion days, including a sensory friendly morning. For details and tickets, visit scstatefair.org.

Spartanburg County residents only – EGGtober 2022 is offered by Spartanburg Parks. Purchase a dozen Halloween themed eggs filled with toys, candy and stickers for $10 per dozen (limit 5 dozen per family). Boo Crews will hide the eggs in your front yard on Oct. 26 and 27. Registration will be open until 5 p.m. Oct. 14 or until all spots are claimed, whichever comes first. Boo in the Zoo is 3 – 8 p.m. Oct. 19 – 23 and Oct. 26 – 31 at the Greenville Zoo. Tickets have timed entry and capacity is limited. Kids can dress up, trick or treat and explore a decidedly different look for the zoon. For details and tickets, visit greenvillezoo.com.

Halloween at Heritage Park Presented by Ray Thompson's Upstate Karate is 1 – 5 p.m. Oct. 22 at Heritage Park in Simpsonville. For details, visit facebook.com/simpsonvillechamber.

Autumn Harvest at the TD Saturday Market is 8 a.m. – noon Oct. 29 in downtown Greenville. Events include trick-or-treating, a costume contest and a family photo opportunity. For details, visit saturdaymarketlive.com.

Trick-or-Treat at TCMU – Greenville 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Spartanburg 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Oct. 29. Both museums will be decorated and community sponsors and vendors will hand out candy. This event is a fundraiser and all proceeds will directly support the museum’s educational and operational initiatives. Tickets must be purchased in advance. TCMU members receive discounts. The Fall Festival at Denver Downs Farm continues through Nov. 13. The event is open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sundays, plus 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Nov. 17. It includes corn mazes, pumpkins, homegrown mums, pick your own flowers, a new Mega Super Slide Mountain for all ages, a jumping pillow park, new cow train, and expanded Little Farmer's Corral.
