A Monticello man was arrested for attempting to murder his wife.
According to Z93 in Monticello, Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies made multiple visits to a residence on domestic violence calls, and upon a visit on Sept. 27, encountered a woman who said her husband hit her and choked her until she passed out.
A three-year-old child in the house also had a bruise where it was reportedly hit with a baby bottle that the man threw during the encounter.
An arrest warrant was filed for Thurman E. Barnes of Monticello, who was arrested on charges of attempted murder, strangulation first degree, unlawful imprisonment first degree, and fourth-degree assault.
Barnes was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center on a $50,000.00 full cash bond.
The investigation is ongoing by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
