A note with a now determined "non-credible" threat was found by a passenger while flying from San Jose to Salt Lake City.

Passengers from Southwest Flight 1983 were greeted by a large police presence when they landed in Salt Lake City around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers immediately began searching the plane, as passengers were confused as to what was going on.

"They were very clear that no questions would be answered," said passenger Shannon Overturf.

Another passenger, Tim Kay stated that they were informed over the loudspeaker that law enforcement would be arriving shortly. He stated that police officers boarded the plane, entered the cockpit, closed the door, and spoke briefly.

Others were visibly upset by what was going on because no explanation was given to them.

"One lady started crying and some people were like 'I have to use the bathroom' but they [officers] said no you have to remain in your seat," said passenger Anna Davis.

According to a Southwest spokesperson, a canine crew cleared the plane.

They said a passenger discovered a note onboard which was determined to be a non-credible threat and standard protocol was taken.

"Safety is always our top priority, so, out of an abundance of caution and following protocol, the aircraft was parked away from the terminal upon arrival," officials said.

According to officials with Southwest, all customers were bussed to the terminal.

It was unclear whether any arrests had been made or what the note discovered by the passenger said.
