Family and colleagues are mourning the loss of a man who was fatally stabbed at the Atlantic Avenue Station last weekend.
Tommy Bailey’s family says he was a steamfitter and part of Steamfitters Local Union 638.
They say he was a hardworking man who loved his three children.
Born and raised in Canarsie, he played baseball with the Latin Souls league in his childhood and went on to play for Mercer College. He also coached his older son's team.
A member of the union is looking to organize a fundraiser where he auctions off a football signed by current and former Giants' players.
Bailey’s two eldest children said in a statement, “Our family is heartbroken by the loss of our dad. He was a good man, who was easygoing, funny and kind to all. He was taken from us and everyone who loved him. To have lost him in this terrible manner has only worsened our pain. We will forever love and miss him."
Bailey’s family says they are asking for privacy during this difficult time.
