$5,000 reward increased in Spartanburg homicide investigation, police say
Police announced Wednesday the reward has increased for information leading to an arrest after a man was shot and killed while standing by an Upstate road.Major Art Littlejohn, with the Spartanburg Police Department said $5,000 more has been added to the reward in the Leonard Lyles homicide.Family members provided the additional money, which brings the reward amount to $10,000, according to Littlejohn. Littlejohn said Lyles was shot on Aug. 28, 2021, while standing near Oliver Street, around 4:20 a.m. At the time, witnesses told police it happened as he talked with another man in front of a house.Authorities found Lyles lying on the ground near the road, according to Littlejohn.Littlejohn said Lyles was shot several times in the legs and upper body.Anyone with information is asked to call the Spartanburg Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIMESC, or 888-232-7463.
